These are atomic notes on Cybermeticism — cybernetics met with hermeticism. They link to each other and change as I work them. Nothing here is finished; that’s the point. Each pass leaves the idea a little less drifted from what it’s trying to be.

Only help humans help each other.

The first axiom — strengthen the bond between people instead of standing in for it. The root the rest grow from.

Cybermeticism: the name.

Cybernetics meets hermeticism — regulated-systems rigor fused with a participatory ontology.

Three terms: the synthesis of evidence, the intent you add or resist, the constancy that holds them in time.

Drift and the regulated self.

Drift is the failure mode; trajectory is the work. The whole toolchain is named for it.

The household is the intelligence.

No single model is the mind. The constellation is what general intelligence actually looks like.

Trajectory over task.

A task finished in a way that breaks the person’s path is anti-help.

Sharp tools, dangerous magic.

Capability handed over without comprehension is theft of the user’s path.

Greatness in, greatness out.

GIGO read as design, not defense: the system amplifies the care you put in.

A spiral, not a loop — returning to the same angle at a larger radius. The gain is the point.

Every conversation is a first date.

Parameters frozen at training, context set fresh each session, memory gone by morning — the whole game.

Memory asymmetry is power asymmetry.

A system that can’t keep a record offers a witness-less act — the oldest rationalization for harm.

Coherence theatre.

With a stateless model, keeping the world coherent isn’t its feature — it’s your job.

The room is the variable.

You can’t copy-paste an outcome. Same prompt, different surroundings, different reply.

Where carbon and silicon part.

Durable, unconscious retention — affection that compounds without being reloaded — is biology. The machine never paints you back.

Systems that learn.

A system should get better the more it’s used. The fix isn’t more AI — it’s making learning compound instead of reset.

Coherence under changing inputs.

The question under all of it — drawn from watching my mom’s dementia and from AI, at the same time.

Where the damage isn’t.

Survivorship bias: a system fails where no data comes back. Protect the invisible, not the visible.

Intelligence between the tools.

Signals live across tools, not inside them. The goal isn’t more AI in each tool — it’s a layer that listens across the system.

Loop-closing navigation.

A link shouldn’t just point forward — it should name the loop it closes. Tufte’s clarity meets Bush’s associative trails.

The index paradox.

index.html is first and last, explicit and implicit — the default that must be named, the beginning that comes at the end of the path.

The wall was a mirror.

What looked like a wall between human and machine was a mirror of our own assumptions about intelligence.

Systems should chat, not config.

Why should humans learn YAML when systems can learn English? Ask the system how it’s doing — and get an honest answer.

The pastry chef in the cockpit.

“Human in the loop” doesn’t help if the human isn’t an expert. Five eras of flight make the case for co-agentic systems.

Slides are scenes.

Author visually, export cleanly. Some ideas are understood through interaction — small, contained, metaphorical worlds.

Belief over equals.

The equation, run as an agent: a self held among weighted equals, mixing prediction with evidence toward a goal.

Vector, not lookup.

A lookup table answers the exact question. A vector search answers what you meant — nearest neighbor in a space of meaning.

The geometry of meaning — an inner-product space where similarity is just the angle between two vectors.

CAD around the idea.

Don’t make humans learn CAD — design the physical thing through conversation, with the prototype as its spec.

A guardian, not an amplifier.

An on-device companion that protects what you said matters — a notification guardian, not an engagement amplifier.

Time, energy, love, intent.

The real currency a system should optimize for — not impressions, but what actually matters.

Heirloom intelligence.

A device that accumulates wisdom and is passed down — your memory carried to your children as pattern, not surveillance.

The Perpendick Law.

Mechanical truth, and the humility to be corrected: if the ring looks perpendicular to its surface, you’re a perpendick — fix it.

The household cast.

The archetypes of the constellation — wisdom keepers given roles, each a discipline with a face.

The cautionary cast.

The parody titans — disruption, moonshots, engagement-at-all-costs. Foils the regulator holds at arm’s length.

Attribution is the appreciation loop.

Naming what a thought grew from isn’t etiquette — it closes the loop that keeps the synthesis honest.

The margin is the medium.

Tufte’s sidenote isn’t decoration — putting the gloss beside the line, not under it, is an epistemic choice.

Protection before presentation.

Hedy hopped frequencies so the signal couldn’t be jammed before it was heard. Guard the thing before you dress it up.

The synthesis boundary.

When an AI reads your garden and improves its own reasoning, are you helping it, or is it helping you? The line dissolves; the question is who holds the trajectory.

The gestalt read.

Humans walk the garden one path at a time; a model ingests the whole map in a single breath. The synthesis changes when time flattens.

Formalizing the "belief-over-equals" demo: equations, update rules, and a minimal JS reference implementation for the garden.
