Attribution is the appreciation loop.

Naming what a thought grew from isn’t etiquette — it closes the loop that keeps the synthesis honest.

SPIRALA spiral closing on itself — the appreciation loop, returning credit to where the thought began.

Every synthesis is built of borrowed light. Σ(E) is only as trustworthy as the evidence you’ll admit you used — so saying where a thought came from is the auditable half of memory asymmetry, not a courtesy added after. The wall called it the appreciation loop: you close the circuit back to the wisdom keepers you drew from, and the gratitude is what keeps the work from quietly claiming more than it earned. Greatness in, attribution out.

OBJECTION

Footnotes are friction. Ship the value — nobody adopts a product for its bibliography, and crediting every influence just slows the thing that actually helps people.

THE STAND

Uncredited synthesis is how trust quietly rots; the audit trail IS the product, not an appendix. Attribution costs a line and buys the right to be believed.

Cybernetic Garden: a living attribution

Catch a signal, reveal a debt — a living attribution that honors those who showed us the way. Σ(E) is only as trustworthy as the sources you'll name.
