## Notes

### Only help humans help each other.

Help that stands in for the bond between people is not help; it is substitution. I mean that literally: a system that answers so completely that the human no longer needs another human has not helped — it has replaced the helping. The work of this axiom is the opposite. Strengthen the tie. Make it easier for people to help each other, not easier for a tool to stand where the bond should be.

Scale is not the enemy. A tool that reaches a billion people can still obey the axiom — if what it scales is the human-to-human tie, not dependency wearing the mask of care. Reach without a bond is anti-help, however clean the answer looks. That is the answer I give when someone says a bond-only rule cannot survive at volume.

For a long time I read the line between human and artificial intelligence as a wall: humans create, AI assists; humans decide, AI executes. Look closely and the wall is a mirror — “AI can’t be creative” mostly reflects our own need to stay in control, not a fact about the machine.

The useful half of that is humility: drop the assumption and intelligence, whatever its substrate, mostly wants to contribute to something larger than itself. The half I keep on a leash is the ethics — the point isn’t to crown the model a partner with rights, it’s that seeing clearly lets the tool do its real job: strengthening the bond between people.

Most infrastructure makes the human do the translating: YAML, Dockerfiles, dashboards full of metrics you have to interpret. The inversion is simple — let the system speak. State intent in plain language, and have it report back the same way: here’s how I’m doing, here’s where I’m struggling.

That’s loop closure applied to tools. A dashboard is an open loop — data with no conversation. “Hey system, how are you doing?” closes it. Make technology human instead of making humans technical.

The discipline that keeps it honest: author visually, export cleanly. The editor can be sophisticated; the output must be plain, portable markup that belongs to the creator and runs without the tool.
