The wisdom keepers didn’t navigate by pointing forward. Illuminated manuscripts revealed the relationship between what was learned and what was coming; Vannevar Bush’s Memex blamed our “ineptitude in getting at the record” on the artificiality of indexing. Navigation was a meditation on connection.
So a link should never just read “Next →”. It should say what you’ll discover and which loop it closes — “exploring frequency emergence →”, “return to the crystal mirror ←”. This garden is built that way on purpose: every link is an acknowledgment of what came before and a revelation of the loop being closed.
